After you finish that post poster boy we need to see you in Neil’s office if you don’t mind.
Sure thing comes the reply.
Poster boy finishes the post and then makes his way to Neil’s office.
He sees the old servers sitting in a corner of the office. A look of complete surprise crosses his face.
The FBI agent that he had seen on TV gets up and shakes hands with Neil and then leaves.
The look of surprise convinces them that poster boy wasn’t involved and the pre-arranged signal for that was for the agent to get up, shake hands, and then leave. Which is what he did.
We won’t be needing your services anymore poster boy.
Neil hands him his final check and starts to usher him towards the exit.
The editor stops them at the door and advises poster boy not to bother using them for a recommendation in the future.
Less then stunned poster boy leaves and heads to his new apartment.
They must have found the cron job on the old servers poster boy thinks to himself. Damn it.
He gets in the Pacer and heads to his new apartment.
After he arrives he immediately grabs a bottle of Black Velvet and shortly afterwords falls asleep.
You can be my wingman anytime the Iceman is yelling to Maverick.
Just great he thinks. I got my new apartment, got my job back, got fired, again, and now I wake up drunk just in time to watch Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise on the small screen. My television set thinks poster boy. Just great.
Well, time to watch another Maverick.
He stumbles to the VCR and puts on Maverick. The movie with Mel Gibson, James Garner, and Jodie Foster to name a few.
This is my all-time favorite movie he thinks.
He grabs a bottle of Jolt cola and then places the phone on the stand next to the chair.
Then he grabs a blanket and eases himself into the chair. This is gonna work he thinks.
He hits play and waits.
Ahh, the good part. This is the part where Mel playing the role of Maverick tells the audience that he can cut a deck of cards to any card that he wants to whenever he wants to. It’s something that he’s been working on for a long time. The audience can plainly see the results. It didn’t work, again.
Yea, but just you wait and see.
He keeps sipping on the Jolt cola as the movie progresses.
Finally they get to the scene where Maverick’s gonna finally prove that he can get any card that he want to if he just thinks about it hard enough.
Right before Neil calls again and begs me to come back to work I’ll answer the phone just before it rings thinks poster boy.
Poster boy grabs the phone and listens to …
the dial tone.
He slams the phone back down again.
Maverick picks up his card and throws it without looking to see if he actually has the winning hand.
Just as the Ace comes into view poster boy grabs the phone again and listens to …
the dial tone.
This sucks he thinks.
The rents gonna be due in a couple of weeks and I ain’t got a job. And unlike Maverick I ain’t drawing Aces out of thin air.
